Empowering eDNA innovation across the Netherlands: The e3DNA community
Advanced methodological development benefits immensely from communities of people familiar with technological innovation and application. The mission-driven e3DNA hub aims to foster a widespread environmental DNA (eDNA) community across the Netherlands. With a commitment to sustainability, biodiversity monitoring, environmental assessments, and fundamental knowledge about the natural world, e3DNA aspires to catalyze methodological advancements and collaborative research, creating a bottom-up approach to drive eDNA integration, from education, policy and scientific pursuits. Be it an interest in environmental, ecological or evolutionary (e3) applications of eDNA, the community offers an inclusive hub among practitioners and acts to bolster individual initiatives for broader uptake, capacity-building, and to advance transformative molecular methods. Currently, the e3DNA hub spans multiple institutes, universities, and businesses, bringing together a diverse member group in their expertise and interests. By joining the initiative, members supercharge their own research by getting personal feedback to the challenges they face, expand their network and connect to other professionals, stay ahead of the curve through free training workshops, symposia, and invited lecture series. We encourage those using state-of-the-art eDNA approaches to join our initiative to bolster fundamental, technical, and applied knowledge, as well as to strengthen the innovative methodological landscape of the Netherlands.
